How do I install my wiper blades?

How do I identify my BMW X3 year and series?
BMW fits the X3 information label around a doorway or B-pillar; it includes the build month and year. Check the lower-windscreen VIN.
The choices are G45 20 (2025 - 2026), G01 (2017 - 2024), F25 (2011 - 2017) and E83 (2004 - 2010). For a 2017 build, G01 joins larger kidney grilles to angular lamps and has a more digital cabin. F25 has smaller separated grille openings and a simpler dashboard.

How to install front wiper blades for the BMW X3?
G45 X3 blades release from a narrow push-button arm. Put the wipers in service position, depress the top button and slide the adaptor off the flat arm. Run the replacement onto the arm with the button facing its square hole, then stop as soon as it clicks through.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a BMW X3?
The G01 X3 rear arm ends in a straight tongue. Raise it, pull the 11-inch blade out along the moulded channel, then push the new blade over the tongue until it will not slide back off.
What connector type does the BMW X3 use?
G45 uses a narrow push button; G01 uses a forked push button; F25 has a side-pin connector; E83 uses J-hook arms.
Did BMW X3 wiper blade sizes change between generations?
G45 uses 24/19-inch fronts. G01 and F25 share 26/20-inch fronts but have 11- and 13-inch rear blades respectively. E83 is 22/20 inches at the front with a 14-inch rear.
Do all BMW X3 generations use the same front wiper-arm connector?
BMW X3 front fittings progress from J-hook on E83 to side pin on F25, forked push button on G01 and narrow push button on G45.
How do I activate wiper service position on a BMW X3?
Turn the ignition off and check that neither blade is frozen to the windscreen. Lift the wiper control past its resistance point and keep holding it for 3 seconds, until the arms stop almost vertical. When the new blades are secure, set both arms onto the glass, turn the ignition on and move the control down; the wipers will return to their normal rest.
What's the difference in the BMW X3 G45 and G01?
The 2025 - 2026 G45 X3 has the broad new grille treatment and a curved display running BMW Operating System 9. Most cabin functions move onto that screen. The 2017 - 2024 G01 has a separate centre display, more dashboard buttons and the rotary iDrive controller.
