Open the driver-side door and read the Holden Colorado build or compliance label for the manufacture date and VIN. Match that information to one of the two generations:
For a 2012 vehicle, also inspect the wiper arm end rather than relying on the year alone. The 2nd Generation has a flat top-lock arm; the 1st Generation has a curved J-hook.

Weather resistant components help deliver consistent performance through rain, wind and changing weather.
Colorado front blades are 22 inches (550mm) on the driver's side for both generations. The passenger blade identifies the fitment:
The connector changes at the same time, so do not interchange the two kits.
On a 2nd Generation Colorado, lift the arm and rotate the blade until you can see the flat top-lock. Press the release and ease the blade off the end of the arm. Keep the bare arm supported rather than letting it fall towards the windscreen.
Push the replacement squarely onto the connector until the lock takes hold. Tug it once, fold it back into its wiping angle and lower it slowly. A 1st Generation Colorado follows the usual J-hook removal path.
The 2012 - 2020 2nd Generation Colorado uses a flat-arm top-lock connector. The 2008 - 2012 1st Generation uses a J-hook. This is also a useful way to separate a 2012 changeover vehicle.
The driver blade stays at 22 inches (550mm). Moving from the 1st to the 2nd Generation changes the passenger blade from 19 inches (475mm) to 18 inches (450mm), and replaces the J-hook with a flat-arm top-lock connector.
The 2008 - 2012 1st Generation Colorado uses J-hook front arms. The 2012 - 2020 2nd Generation uses a flat-arm top-lock connector, where the blade slides directly onto the flattened arm end.
The 2012 - 2020 2nd Generation Colorado is larger and more refined, with the 2.8-litre Duramax diesel, a refreshed cabin and improved safety equipment. The 2008 - 2012 1st Generation is the smaller Isuzu-derived design with an older interior and drivetrain range.
