How do I identify my Kia Sportage year and series?
Find the manufacture date on the certification label around the driver-side centre pillar, then compare it with these Sportage series:
Sportage changeover years can contain two shapes, so use the series code and body shape alongside the date. The NQ5 has the broad, angular front treatment, while the QL has the rounded headlamp and grille design of the preceding shape.

How to install front wiper blades for the Kia Sportage?
Put the Sportage wipers into their raised service position first. Flip open the cap on the blade, squeeze the release and slide the old blade down the J-hook. On the replacement, open the adaptor from the top, put the hook inside and pull the blade up until it snaps home.
Close the cap firmly. A light pull will tell you whether the hook has latched before the arm goes back onto the windscreen.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a Kia Sportage?
Swing the Sportage rear arm away from the window and rotate the blade backwards until the connector releases from its hook-and-socket mount. Line the new blade up at the same angle and press it onto the arm until it snaps in. Rotate it back into line, check that it pivots freely and ease the arm down.
What connector type does the Kia Sportage use?
NQ5, QL, SL, KM and NB Sportage models all use J-hook connectors at the front. Rear attachments vary by series, so confirm the series code rather than matching only the blade length.
Did Kia Sportage wiper blade sizes change between generations?
They did. The NQ5 keeps the QL's 26-inch (650mm) driver blade but moves to an 18-inch (450mm) passenger blade and 12-inch (300mm) rear. The QL uses 16 inches (400mm) on the passenger side and 11 inches (275mm) at the rear.
Do all Kia Sportage generations use the same front wiper-arm connector?
The NQ5, QL, SL, KM and NB Kia Sportage all have J-hook front wiper arms. Lift the adaptor cap and the curved hook becomes visible inside the blade.
How do I activate wiper service position on a Kia Sportage?
Turn the Sportage off with the wiper switch at rest. Move the switch to the single-wipe MIST position, then within 20 seconds hold it there for more than two seconds. The arms will travel up and stop in the service position. After fitting the blades, switch the vehicle on and operate the wipers to park them normally.
What's the difference in the Kia Sportage NQ5 and QL?
The 2022 - 2026 NQ5 Sportage is larger and much more angular, with a panoramic-style digital dashboard and updated safety and electrified powertrain options. The 2015 - 2021 QL is smaller, rounder and uses a conventional instrument panel.
