How do I identify my Mazda 6 year and series?
Confirm whether the Mazda 6 is a Sedan, Wagon or Hatch. Mazda puts the 6's manufacture date and VIN on the driver's doorway label.
For a 2018 build, GL 2nd Facelift has a larger grille with a bright lower surround, slimmer lamps and a cleaner bumper; GL 1st Facelift has the earlier grille and fog-light treatment. GJ, GH and GG cover earlier Sedan or Hatch choices, while the older Wagon is shown as GY. Match the body before using the series code.

How to install front wiper blades for the Mazda 6?
On the GL 2nd Facelift Mazda 6, support the arm and press the square release in the forked connector. The old blade slides straight out once the lock is depressed. Guide the replacement back between the two sides of the arm until the button seats, then check that it will not slide off before returning it to the glass.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a Mazda 6?
GL 1st Facelift and GJ wagons use a rear hook-and-socket fitting. Swing the 12-inch blade away from the window, pull its moulded socket off the arm hook, then press the new socket onto the hook until it clips over the retaining point.
What connector type does the Mazda 6 use?
The GL 2nd Facelift Mazda 6 has a forked push-button front connector. GL 1st Facelift, GJ, GH and GG/GY use J-hook arms.
Did Mazda 6 wiper blade sizes change between generations?
Front sizes moved from 22/18 inches on GG/GY to 24/16 on GH, then 24/18 on GJ and GL. Rear length depends on body: 12 inches on GJ/GL wagons and GY wagons, 14 inches on the GH wagon, and 20 inches on GG and GH hatches.
Do pre-facelift and facelift Mazda 6 vehicles use different wiper sizes?
Both GL facelifts use 24/18-inch front blades. The 2016 - 2018 GL 1st Facelift wagon also has a 12-inch rear blade, matching the GJ wagon.

What's the difference in the Mazda 6 GL 2nd Facelift and GL 1st Facelift?
The 2018 - 2025 GL 2nd Facelift Mazda 6 is the one with the deeper grille, slimmer lights and redesigned dashboard. The 2016 - 2018 GL 1st Facelift has the earlier nose and cabin, including the older centre-console layout.
