How do I identify my Subaru XV year and series?
Open the driver door and read the Subaru XV certification label for the manufacture date and VIN. Match that information to the series:
A 2017 vehicle may be either series. G5X has sharper lighting, a wider grille and the later Subaru Global Platform body; G4X is the original XV shape.

What is the length of the Subaru XV wiper blades?
G5X and G4X Subaru XV models use the same sizes: 26 inches (650mm) for the driver, 16 inches (400mm) for the passenger and 12 inches (300mm) at the rear.
How to install front wiper blades for the Subaru XV?
A G5X XV has a forked push-button connector. Press the release point and slide the blade out through the fork while supporting the arm. Push the replacement into the channel until the button reappears.
G4X uses a J-hook instead: press its tab, move the blade down the hook and pull the new adaptor back into the curved end.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a Subaru XV?
Lift the XV rear arm and rotate the blade backwards until its centre socket releases from the moulded hook. Position the replacement at that same angle, press it over the hook and turn it forwards. The blade should pivot without lifting away from the arm.
What connector type does the Subaru XV use?
G5X uses forked push-button front connectors. G4X uses J-hook arms. Both generations use a hook-and-socket rear attachment.
Did Subaru XV wiper blade sizes change between generations?
No. G5X and G4X retain 26-inch (650mm) and 16-inch (400mm) fronts with a 12-inch (300mm) rear. The front connector changes even though the lengths do not.
Do all Subaru XV generations use the same front wiper-arm connector?
The 2017 - 2023 G5X Subaru XV uses forked push-button front arms. The 2011 - 2017 G4X uses J-hook connectors.
What's the difference in the Subaru XV G5X and G4X?
The G5X Subaru XV moved to Subaru's Global Platform, improving body stiffness, refinement and EyeSight safety while adding a more modern cabin. The G4X is the original XV, built from the earlier Impreza architecture with simpler interior technology.
