How do I install my wiper blades?

How do I identify my Toyota RAV4 year and series?
Use the build date, not only the registration year. On the RAV4, inspect either front doorway for Toyota's compliance label. A second identifier is stamped into the front section of the driver's floor.
For a 2019 RAV4, compare XA40 with XA50. XA40 has a smoother, rounder body and rounded wheel openings. XA50 is squarer, with polygon-shaped wheel arches and a more upright nose. The rear blade also changes from 10 inches on XA40 to 12 inches on XA50. Earlier RAV4 changeovers should be checked from the build date and VIN rather than working through every series.

How to install front wiper blades for the Toyota RAV4?
Passenger side first on the RAV4. Hold the raised arm, flip open the small door on the J-hook adaptor and push the old blade back until it comes free. Guide the hook through the replacement adaptor, pull the blade into place, check the latch and remove the rubber protector before testing the wipers.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a Toyota RAV4?
Raise the RAV4 tailgate wiper and turn the blade until its socket releases from the moulded hook. Line the replacement socket up squarely, press it onto the hook until it clicks, then lower the arm by hand rather than letting it spring against the glass.
What connector type does the Toyota RAV4 use?
Every RAV4 front series from XA10 through XA60 uses a J-hook. At the rear, XA20 to XA60 use a hook-and-socket style; XA10 uses a J-hook rear fitting.
Did Toyota RAV4 wiper blade sizes change between generations?
Yes. XA60 and XA50 share 26/16-inch fronts and a 12-inch rear, while XA40 changes only the rear to 10 inches. XA30 moves to 24/17/12, XA20 to 24/19/12, and XA10 to 20/18/14.
Do all Toyota RAV4 generations use the same front wiper-arm connector?
Yes. XA60, XA50, XA40, XA30, XA20 and XA10 RAV4 models all use a J-hook front arm.
What's the difference in the Toyota RAV4 XA60 and XA50?
The 2026 XA60 RAV4 introduces a sharper body, redesigned interior and a new generation of hybrid, multimedia and safety technology. The 2019 - 2025 XA50 has the more rugged-edged previous design and an earlier version of Toyota's cabin electronics.
