How do I identify my BMW 1 Series year and series?
Read the BMW 1 Series VIN through the lower windscreen and check the manufacture date before matching the series. Confirm whether the car is a Hatch, Convertible or Coupe, because those exact body choices affect rear-wiper availability.
For a 2024 Hatch, use the VIN to separate F70 from F40. F70 has the wide curved display and a redesigned front with vertical light signatures; F40 has the earlier dashboard and angled daytime-running-light graphics.

How to install front wiper blades for the BMW 1 Series?
For an F70 Hatch, control the raised arm with one hand and thumb the release in its slim connector. Withdraw the blade along the arm. Insert the replacement until the catch shows in the locking hole, then test it with a short tug before returning the arm.
How do I install the rear wiper blade on a BMW 1 Series?
F70 and F40 Hatch rear blades use a slide-on tongue. F20 uses a hook-and-socket rear fitting, while E87 uses a hooked flat-arm fitting. Keep the arm supported and refit the replacement in the same orientation as the removed blade.
What connector type does the BMW 1 Series use?
BMW 1 Series front connectors vary: F70 narrow push button, F40 keyed slim top-lock, and F20, E87, E88 and E82 pinch tab. Rear connector type also changes between Hatch series.
Did BMW 1 Series wiper blade sizes change between generations?
