Confirm whether the Volkswagen Golf is a Hatch, Convertible, SUV or Wagon. Golf vehicle data appears below the cargo-floor panel and in the service record; its compliance label gives the manufacture date.
A 2020 Golf Hatch may be Mk7.5 or Mk8, and they use different wipers. Mk8 has a slimmer upper grille, lower-set nose and wide digital dashboard. Mk7.5 retains the earlier front and cabin. The Mk7 to Mk7.5 styling change does not alter the blades or connector.

Golf blade lengths follow both body and generation:
Raise the Golf wipers in service mode. For a push-button blade, press the button at the end of the arm and draw the blade straight off. Keep hold of the metal arm while the blade is removed.
Slide the correct replacement onto the flat arm until the button pops into its opening. Check the lock with a small outward pull, lay the arm back on the screen and return the wipers from service mode. Side-pin and J-hook Golfs need the adaptor that matches their Mk number.
On a Golf rear arm, rotate the blade away from its normal wiping angle. For Mk6 to Mk8 push-button slide-lock fittings, release the catch and slide the blade from the arm. Earlier fork-and-pin or J-hook rears detach through their matching latch.
Install the new rear blade through the same path, then pivot it into line with the arm. It should move on its hinge without pulling back off the connector.
Golf connector types change across the Mk range. Mk8, Mk7.5 and Mk7 use a narrow push button at the front. Mk6 Hatch, Mk6 Wagon and Mk5 Facelift use a wide push button . Mk5 and Mk4 Facelift use a side pin , while Mk4 and Mk3 use J-hook arms. The Mk6 Convertible is narrow push button.
The Mk8 and Mk7.5 Hatch share 26-inch (650mm) and 18-inch (450mm) front blades, but the Mk8 rear is 10 inches (250mm) rather than 11 inches (275mm). Mk6 steps down to 24 inches (600mm) and 19 inches (475mm) at the front.
The Mk7.5 and Mk7 use the same 26-inch (650mm), 18-inch (450mm) and 11-inch (275mm) sizes with narrow push-button front arms. The Mk5 Facelift and Mk5 also share 24-inch (600mm), 19-inch (475mm) and 13-inch (325mm) lengths, but the facelift changes the front connector from side pin to wide push button.
Hatch, Wagon and SUV Golf models share front blades when the Mk number matches. Mk7.5 and Mk7 use 26-inch (650mm) and 18-inch (450mm) fronts; Mk6 Hatch and Wagon use 24-inch (600mm) and 19-inch (475mm) fronts. Convertibles have front wipers only, so body style still matters.
No. Golf Hatch, Wagon and SUV models have a rear blade. Convertibles use a front pair without a rear wiper. Confirm the body style before the Mk number because the Convertible does not have the rear arm fitted to Hatch, Wagon and SUV models.
The Mk8, Mk7.5 and Mk7 Golf use narrow push-button front arms. The Mk6 Hatch, Mk6 Wagon and Mk5 Facelift use wide push-button fittings, except the Mk6 Convertible, which uses narrow push buttons. The Mk5 and Mk4 Facelift use side-pin arms; Mk4 and Mk3 use J-hooks.
On a Golf with this function, switch the ignition off and press the wiper lever down once. The blades move up and stop where the arms can be lifted clear of the bonnet. After replacement, switch the ignition on and press the lever down once more to return them to the parked position.
The 2020 - 2026 Mk8 Golf brings a highly digital cockpit, touch-based controls and updated connected and electrified technology. The 2017 - 2020 Mk7.5 is a facelift of the Mk7, retaining more physical buttons and the previous cabin architecture.
